DEMO DERBIES RETURN TO BAER FIELD SPEEDWAY
2013 was a banner year for Fort Wayne’s BAER FIELD SPEEDWAY. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary, the south-side speed plant featured many new attractions in an action-packed season, culminating with the return of Demolition Derby action after a more than 10-year hiatus.
Building off that season-ending excitement, the Speedway is proud to announce that it will host THREE Derbies in the upcoming season. The 2014 Baer Field Speedway Derby Series will kick off on Saturday, May 3, with the Modified division bashing for a $1,000 winner’s prize! Event two will be Friday, July 4, with
$2,000to the Modified division winner. The series will wrap up on Saturday, September 27, with the Modified division going for a whopping $5,000 to-win that should draw cars from more than five states! UPDATE! July 4 now to be $5,000 to-win as well! May 3 Modified Class winner to receive guaranteed starting spot in July 4 Feature!
Along with the Modifieds going for the $1,000 to win, the May 3 Derby will also feature the Super Stock, Windshield (stock), and Compact divisions crashing for $500 to-win; a first-ever $250 to-win Mini Van division; a Lawnmower Derby; a kids Power Wheel Derby; Figure-8 races; a Trailer & Boat Race; and FREE Monster Truck rides!
The July 4 Derby, will see a different kind of thrills and spills as “DR DANGER” from “American Daredevils” on the History Channel will be making the first of two scheduled Speedway appearances.
The remainder of the class line-ups for the July and September Derbies will be announced at a later date.
Rules for the May 3 Derby will mirror the 2014 United Demolition Derbies rulebook. Those rules will be released soon and only minor changes are expected from last season.
Entries are now being accepted for the May 3 Derbies. Entry Fee will be $30. A free driver’s pit pass will be included in all pre-entries received by April 12. After that date, entry fee will remain $30 and all drivers will be required to buy their own pit passes.
Pit Gates will open Saturday, May 3 at 3:00. Entries will close at 6:00 and the Derby will begin at 7:00. Spectator gates will open at 5:00. Adult admission for this show will be $15 and all kids 12-and-under will be admitted FREE! Pit Passes are $20.
