As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, Fort Wayne’s Baer Field Speedway is proud to announce the biggest winner’s purse in Speedway history! Listening to the requests of area race fans, Wednesday, July 17, will see the long-antiquated return of the OUTLAW Super Late Models in the running of the “Three Rivers Festival 100”! At the end of the 100-lap grind, the winner will collect a staggering $10,000 first prize!
“We wanted to do something special for the 50th Anniversary and make a statement about our intentions to build Baer Field Speedway into a top summer entertainment venue for northeast Fort Wayne,” said new promoter Jon Raney. “Bringing back the Outlaws as part of an official Three Rivers Festival event; and putting up this kind of payout, does that!”
Run under the rules similar to the Ohio-based Main Event Racing Series, the Outlaw Super Lates will compete on the Speedway half-mile on Hoosier-brand slick tires at speeds well over 140 m.p.h!
Although entry forms have yet to be sent out, the early list of “committed” drivers is a virtual “who’s-who” of Super Late Model racing. Heading the early list is the all-time Baer Field winningest driver and “Hall of Fame” member “Lightning Larry” Zent. The hometown hero is expected to be challenged by 2012 “Kalamazoo Klash” & “Main Event” winner Terry Senneker Jr.; 12-time Kalamazoo Speedway track Champion Andy Bozell; his son Phil Bozell; multi-time ARCA/CRA Champion Scott Hantz; “Klash” winner Todd Currier; two-time “Main Event Series” Champion Bud Perry; Jeff and Greg Parr; Jack Landis; Brent Jack; Brian Rievley; Mike Kugler; Craig Everage; Jasper Case; and many more!
Full details, entry forms, event purse, and rules will be released in the coming weeks.
