OUTLAWS RETURN TWICE IN 2014!
Building off the excitement of last summers “Three Rivers Festival 100″, Baer Field Speedway officials are proud to announce that the OUTLAW Super late Models will return TWICE in 2014!
Last July, a packed house saw the long-anticipated return of the OUTLAW Super Late Models in the running of the “Three Rivers Festival 100”! The race was an absolute thriller as a star-studded 26-car field took the green. While an intense battle raged up front, second-fast qualifier BRIAN ROSS worked his way through a deep inversion to take the lead and pull away. Although a late yellow tightened the field. Ross was able to pull away on the restart to take the win for car-owner Bobby Blount and collect a Speedway record $10,000 first prize!
This season, the “Three Rivers Festival 100″ will return on Wednesday, July 16, and will be joined by a new event. Wednesday, June 18, will see the inaugural running of the “KENNY WALLACE 100″! Both SLM races will be 100-laps around the famed half-mile and will pay $10,000 to the winner.
“After last years successful event, we wanted to make things bigger and better this year,” said promoter Jon Raney. “The fans said they wanted more than one show, so the question became, what else could we do? We decided to take another page from the past and bring in a nationally-known driver. And who better to bring in, than one of the most popular characters in NASCAR and someone who’s no stranger to Baer Field…KENNY WALLACE!”
In 1978, at the beginning of his Hall of Fame career, older brother Rusty was a regular visitor to Baer Field and won a number of high-profile races with Kenny as a member of his crew.
Run under the rules similar to the Ohio-based Main Event Racing Series, the Outlaw Super Lates will compete on the Speedway half-mile on Hoosier-brand slick tires at speeds well over 140 m.p.h!
